TROY-CLAWSON REPUBLICAN FORUM
ENDORSES "NO" VOTE ON TROY TAX INCREASE
Troy, MI – January 14, 2010– The Troy-Clawson Republican Forum announces its endorsement of a "NO" vote on the February 23rd Troy tax millage increase vote.
Forum President Barbara Harrell says, “Consistent with the principles of lower taxes and fiscal responsibility stated in the Republican party platform and our forum's mission statement, we firmly believe that a tax increase is inappropriate, unwarranted and ill-advised, especially since Troy, as well as the entire state of Michigan, is currently in a recession. In addition, raising taxes on our residents will not only hurt them, but will also deter other residents and businesses from moving here.”
Bill McKinney, Troy-Clawson Republican Forum Treasurer, adds "History has shown that we can't tax ourselves into prosperity and raising taxes is not going to help the residents of Troy now. In fact, it could well have a very negative long term impact on the city and its people. "

The Troy-Clawson Republican Forum, established in 2003, is a local Republican group which supports candidates who espouse and promote the traditional conservative principles as stated in the Republican Party’s National Platform, among those being traditional one man - one woman marriage, pro-life principles, individual rights, national sovereignty, less government and lower taxes. We regularly hold informational meetings with nationally-known guest speakers, an annual summer corn roast, and a general membership meeting/Christmas party in December.
